Marco J. Bonta, MD

Dr. Marco J. Bonta is Medical Director of Trauma and Surgical Services at Riverside Methodist Hospital, a 1008-bed tertiary teaching center in Columbus, Ohio. He spent more than a decade as a board member at MedFlight of Ohio, and is senior site surveyor and a member of the Verification Review Committee of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. As a trauma surgeon, Dr. Bonta’s research interests focus on triage decisions.
 

   

Scott Bourn, PhD, RN, EMT-P

Scott Bourn, Ph.D., is the VP of Clinical Practices & Research at American Medical Response, leading a team of more than 120 educators, quality assurance coordinators, research specialists and over 80 physician medical directors; together they develop and update evidence-based clinical guidelines that inform the care of more than four million patients annually. During his over 30 years of experience he has worked as a paramedic, emergency department and critical care nurse, EMS system coordinator and director of a university EMS degree program. He served on the Colorado EMS and Trauma Advisory Council from 2002 through 2011, and chaired the council for 5 years. He is the President of Advocates for EMS and President-Elect of the National Association of EMS Educators. Dr. Bourn holds a Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Sciences and a Master of Science in Critical Care Nursing from the University of Colorado Denver.

   
Renee S. Holleran, RN, PhD, CEN, CCRN, CFRN, CTRN

Renee’ Semonin Holleran, RN, PhD, CEN, CCRN, CFRN, CTRN, FAEN

Dr. Holleran received her PhD in nursing from The Ohio State University and her Master’s Degree of nursing from Kent State University. She has served as Editor in Chief, Journal of Emergency Nursing for the past 4 years. She also serves as president of the Emergency Nurses Association and is a member of Medscape Advisory Board. She has been practicing in the Emergency Department since 1977 and has been a transport nurse since 1985. She currently serves as staff nurse in the Emergency Department of Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and as a student Family Nurse Practitioner at Westmister College in Salt Lake City.

   

Dr. Russell MacDonald

Dr. MacDonald is a specialist in emergency medicine and is Canada's first sub-specialist in emergency medical services (EMS). Dr. MacDonald is the Medical Director of the Research Program at Orange Transport Medicine, one of North American's largest air medical transport agencies. He is also an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, holds an appointment at the Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Toronto, practices emergency medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and is co-director of the University's Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program. His primary academic responsibilities are transport medicine research and supervision of fellows and graduate students in medicine and engineering. His research interests include patient safety and prediction of adverse events in transport medicine, impact of advanced airway interventions on patient outcome, and the relationship between public health and emergency services. Russell has a number of peer-reviewed publications and grants for transport medicine research, and is also the co-editor of the recently published 1st Canadian edition of "Caroline's Emergency Care in the Streets", the first textbook written specifically for paramedics in Canada.

   

 

Lara McKenzie, PhD., MA

Lara McKenzie, PhD, MA, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University and a researcher in the Center for Injury Research and Policy at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. McKenzie is a social and behavioral scientist who specializes in the use of behavioral theories and models to develop and evaluate child injury prevention interventions in the emergency department and the community. She has funded studies developing, implementing and evaluating strategies in the area of child passenger safety, carbon monoxide poisoning, and parent safety behaviors and impulsivity.
 

   

Richard D. Schrock, MBA, FHFMA, CPA

Richard Schrock is serving as Director of Finance for The Ohio State University Health Plan. Mr. Schrock retired as Administrator, Financial Services/Treasurer (CFO) at The Ohio State University Health System in 2008, a position he held since 1990. Mr. Schrock received his Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Finance from The Ohio State University. He is a fellow of Healthcare Financial Management Association, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves as adjunct faculty member of The Ohio State University Health Services Management Program.
 

   

Stephen H. Thomas, MD MPH

After finishing his 6-year MD program at LSU, Thomas trained in the Emergency Medicine residency and completed an Air Medical Fellowship at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He moved to a faculty position with Harvard Medical School, where he stayed for 16 years while working at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston MedFlight. He has a Quantitative Methods MPH from Harvard, and is currently Kaiser Foundation Professor & Chair of the Department of EM at the University of Oklahoma.
